Art journal process: The princess

Hello, my loves,

I’m back with another art journal process video today, this one was also made from a prompt in the Get Messy season of fairy tales. This season is so up my alley, and it’s making me want to make all the art.

The idea for this page was to place myself as the princess in my own fairy tale. For me that had to mean removing the knights and princes, and finding myself my own princess.

And obviously SJ is that princess, so I included a poem that to me is ‘ours’ – William Shakespeare’s sonnet 116. As an added bonus, SJ’s name actually means princess – though of course she would be my true love regardless of that nice convenient little detail.

Here’s how I made it:

I used: gold alpha’s from Maggie Holmes’ ‘Shine’ range (no longer available) || DMC stranded embroidery floss in 3833 ‘light raspberry’ || Atelier acrylic paint in toning grey pink and Naples yellow reddish || Semco matte acrylic in ‘pink lemonade’ || white gesso || Martha Stewart glue pen || foam piercing mat || piercing tool similar but not identical to this one || stars from gold foil alpha stickers by Pretty Little Studio || enamel shapes from Cocoa Vanilla || 0.2 waterproof drawing pen by Artline

See you soon! xxx
