Luckily, Arty loves them too, and I find them to be an excellent way to get a good quantity of fresh fruit into him on a regular basis. I also use them to include nuts in his diet. He doesn’t really like to eat nuts as a snack, so smoothies are a good way to ensure that he still benefits from their mineral, healthy fat, and protein content.
This particular smoothie has a divinely rich colour, and a substantial quality that makes it an appealing and satisfying treat.
- 1 cup mixed frozen berries (I used strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, but any combination will work)
- 1 cup almond milk (you can use regular milk if you prefer)
- 2 heaped tbsp almond meal
- 1 tbsp honey
- Place all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth.
- Serve immediately.
This recipe is dairy-free and can easily be made vegan by substituting a different sweetener for the honey.
Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
