My gorgeous friend Kate turned 40 late last year, and threw a lovely party to celebrate.
I wanted to make her a little keepsake of the night, and decided it should take the form of a 6×8 mini album, with photos and messages from all her friends.
On the night, I pinned up some twine and pegs near the cake table, and set some 3×4 lined project life cards and some pens near them, along with my instax instant camera. People wrote little notes to Kate, and took mini polaroids, then pegged them up on the twine for everyone to admire over the course of the night. When the party was over, I collected them all for the album.
It’s taken me a little while to finally finish it, but it’s finally done, and I can’t wait to give it to her.
A couple of cards from the title page
Kate and her husband Jerry
Love and sparkles. I just used a hole punch and some offcuts of black cardstock to make the black confetti.
I love that some of the messages were obviously written while people were drunk!
Some people got decorative with their cards
Jerry gave the most lovely, heartfelt speech. I asked him if I could include his notes in the album.
I also included a pocket in the back that Kate can put her birthday cards in, to keep all of the memories from that birthday in one place.
The colour theme of the party was black and gold, so I went with that for the album too. I had great success with that colour theme in my Week in the Life album last year too, and after doing another album like this, I’m considering using it in my regular 12×12 project life album this year.
I used: Studio Calico 6×8 handbook album in linen | 6×8 page protectors #1, #2, #3, & #4 | Becky Higgins’ 3×4 cream lined cards | Black cards from Becky Higginss midnight edition textured cardstock set | American Crafts glitter tape in Brown Sugar | Pretty Little Studio gold foil alpha stickers
I really enjoyed making this album, and I hope that flicking through it will bring back lots of happy memories of a special night.
